Florida real estate leasing lawyer, I had a lease agreement
I had a lease agreement with an apartment building in FL and upon finishing the lease we swapped to a month to month automatically. We asked if we can have a move out date of April 1st 2020 in December 2019 and we gave more than 2 months notice. They agreed to April 1st, but just like a hotel I said move out date like a check out date, should I be charged for April 1st?Anyways we checked out early on March 28th and told the leasing office. They said to surrender all our keys to the leasing office, and we did on March 28th. They are now charging me 2 extra rent days for april 1st and 2nd claiming that I vacated on April 2nd.I had emailed them I am vacating on March 28th and they advised me to leave the the keys with an authorized representative at leasing office which I did. They sent the amount to collections and I have been going back and forth with them via mail. They are sending me the bill and my leasing agreement but it does not prove that I was there or agreed to stay there until April 2nd. I have also sent letters to the leasing office explaining the above. But no response. How should I deal with this? … read more
