Ask a landlord-tenant lawyer and get answers ASAP
Hello and welcome! My name is ***** ***** I am a licensed attorney and will try my best to help with your situation. There may be a slight delay in my responses as I research statutes or ordinances and type out an answer or reply, but rest assured, I am working on your question.
Are there any substantial problems with the apartment?
What is your reason for wanting to break the lease?
Does your lease have any "early termination"/ buy out clause?
Ok, are you saying that there are leaks in the roof throughout the apartment that the landlord won't fix?
Is there any black mold due to the leaks?
Anything that is outside doesn't affect the habitability of the dwelling, so it is only inside problems that count...
Ok, I meant inside your actual apartment... the landlord has a legal duty to provide a habitable dwelling...that means the area that you actually live in, not anything outside the actual living space..
