I have a tenant that has lived in my house now months.

Customer Question

I have a tenant that has lived in my house now for 6 months. She says she has bed bugs. I lived there before her with no bed bugs and for 6 months she had no complaints of bed bugs. What are my options?

Unfortunately, you need to do due diligence and have it inspected and treated if they are found. You should waive their rent amount until it is addressed.

I have read that in TN, if I can prove they were brought in by her I can have her pay for exterminating services. Is this an option? I want my house free of all pests of course but I know and she has admitted they weren't there when she moved in.

Yes, if you have proof of that yes, you could charge her for those services.
