My landlord sent me a written 30 day notice to remove

Customer Question
My landlord sent me...

My landlord sent me a written 30 day notice to remove certain things from the perimeter if the house. However I was in the hospital so did not recieve the letter until 3 days later. We are trying to comply however my neighbor who also rents from our landlord is constantly taking pictures of what we are doing . we even put up a temp privacy fence and they stand on objects to take pics over the fence. We have rented from him for 17 going on 18 years. Never complained about anything always just fixed things ourselves . we never even complained when he started raising the rent every year.

Lawyer's Assistant: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?

My husband has collected quite a bit of stuff since he retired. Most people who wouldnt know what to do with the objects would naturally consider it junk. And lately our landlord has become very obsessed about going into our bedroom . I cant imagine why he would need to go into our personal space it feels like an invasion of privacy.

I actually have 3 questions but they all pertain to the same event. Can ai extend the 30 day notice since I was in the hospital when the letter was delivered? Is it legal for my neighbors to take pictures of us working in the yard if we put up a temporarynprivacy fence? Do I have to let my landlord in my bedroom when he comes to the house?

Thank you for the information:

I actually have 3 questions but they all pertain to the same event. Can ai extend the 30 day notice since I was in the hospital when the letter was delivered?

Response 1: Yes, since you have mitigating circumstances. You did not receive the notice until you came back from the hospital. So, you cannot legally comply with a notice that you did not receive--you could not have complied with the notice while in the hospital since you were not home to see the notice.

Is it legal for my neighbors to take pictures of us working in the yard if we put up a temporarynprivacy fence?

Response 2: No, it is not legal. That is egregious violation of your privacy. You may file complaint with your local Police or file lawsuit for violation of your privacy.

Do I have to let my landlord in my bedroom when he comes to the house?

Response 3: No, unless he has a legitimate reason for access to your bedroom. That is, if there is a repair to be made there or an inspection that is required.

Can you assist me with Landlord - Tenant Case? Pennsylvania.
I'm a Tenant, and the landlord files an eviction notice for late rent, unknown damages (He said he thinks we WILL cause damages, even though there hasn't been any), and many complaints from one neighbor about footsteps in the night. (Who's made it clear she dislikes us and has said she'll do anything to get us evicted, and she's good friends with the landlord from renting.) However, we've been having a lot of issues with landlord harassment and retaliation. Also, for the rent we made a partial payment after the eviction notice. Which I thought he would have had to file another one if he accepted it. In previous text messages he said he would work with us on the rent (before eviction.) However, after the neighbor complained about my child and I being in the backyard (which is for everybody.) He all of a sudden showed up the next morning pounding on the door with an eviction notice. (He has a really bad temper.) There is a lot of things that also really needs fixed. The electric goes out all the time and the outlets are really hot. We taken thermal pictures of temperatures of the walls and outlets. He doesnt think he should have to fix it and told us that we shouldn't be using a microwave. The floors just started popping up under the carpet also. … read more

I am involved in a lease in the city of boston. We were
I am involved in a lease in the city of boston. We were leased a 2 bedroom apartment duplex where both bedrooms are in the basement floor. We just recently learned that one of the bedrooms is not a legal bedroom. There is no windows leading to the outside from this bedroom, and there is a window frame inbetween the interior room of that room and the legal bedroom, where the purpose is to use a plexy glass in the frame to get natural lighting from the actual legal bedroom which has two windows. This invades privacy however so it can't be a solution. I called the City of Boston inpsectional services to see if this was true and they said that one bedroom is a bedroom and the other room is not. Is this grounds to request to exit our lease without any concern? … read more
