I have 06 KIA Sorento, after I replaced valve cover gasket,

Customer Question

Hi, I have 06 KIA Sorento, after I replaced valve cover gasket, it started misfired one cylinder # 5, wonder if you have ever ran into the same issue. I am a bit mechanical inclined. The car ran fine before I messed it up
JA: Is this your first time dealing with this issue? What size is your engine?
Customer: It is a 3.5L, yes it is the first time with this issue. Like I said, car didn't have any misfired before I replaced the valve cover gasket for both side
JA: Are you fixing your Sorento yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am trying to see what could cause just one cylinder misfired. I have swapped coil, sparkplugs and wire to other cylinders and it still only misfired #5
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: fuel trims are all over places

I can see the timing belt is very loose, could it be tensioner deteriated and jump tooth? I see ignition timing is 5degree in the scanner at idle
Expert:  david craig replied 1 month ago.

absolutely. if you think its loose, then try not driving it.

Expert:  david craig replied 1 month ago.

the ignition timing on the scan tool doesnt really mean much, but it should normally run around 13, but thats not reading degrees unless your is.
