I have a 2005 optima lx I am trying to remove the upper oil

Customer Question

i have a 2005 optima lx I am trying to remove the upper oil pan from the block. I have all the bolts out of the pan, and those that secure it to the transaxle. How do I remove the lower baffle and the oil pump strainer/pickup, are there any fastners inside the pan that I cant see. OH by the way my name is James

Hello James, I will help,

There are three long bolts on the transmission end of the opening for the steel pan. Remove those and all the perimiter bolts and you can cut the pan free. If it feels stuck cheak again for bolts.

Once the pan is free you can reach the single bolt on the bottom of the oil pump to release the pickup. The baffle stays with the pan.

Let me know how i can help
