I was working on a fan in my 98 Kia Sephia I touched one of the fan wires to the wrong terminal on the battery and it shorted out something in the car now the car will not start

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

It's possible that you may just have a blown fuse or there may be internal damage to the engine controller. I'm assuming you have no spark or fuel pressure, if you're missing both at the same time then the ECM is almost surely down. If it has no communication with a scan tool or code reader that's another sign it isn't awake.

Have all fuses been checked?
