Kia Sedona: Key stuck in ACC position

This answer was rated:

Key stuck in ACC position

Is the transmission lever in park?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Ok, possible causes are sticking or broken tumblers, failure in interlock, or transmission range sensor not registering in park although the level shows to be in park.

So first, rock the vehicle back and forth a couple of times, which if the TRS is not registering it in park, this should do it and then try to turn the key.

If that doesnt work, disconnect the battery for 60 seconds to reset the interlock and then try to turn the key

If that doesnt work, then use a hammer and GENTLY tap around the ignition lock cylinder as you try to turn the key. If sticking tumblers, this will free them

If all the above doesnt work, the tumblers have failed and the ignition lock cylinder will need to be replaced and the new key programmed
