We have a 2002 Kia Sportage, 2.0 engine is getting fuel, plugs have been replaced, engine does crank over but will not fire.

Hello and thank you for using justanswer.

Remove the coil cover from the top of the engine. You will see two coils. Remove the spark plug wire from one of these coils and crank the engine. Do you get spark?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
If it is not getting spark is it the coil pack?

There are two coils, so it is doubtful both are bad. One runs cylinder #1 and #3 the other runs cylinders #2 and #4. The problem would likely be a crank sensor or an issue with the engine control computer. Check and let me know what you find and we can take it from there.

Thank you for your input. I will have to take everything apart again to check.
I will be here. Let me know what you find. If you have spark, try spraying starting fluid into the air intake and cranking the engine to see if it will start.
