Basicly the many Sky Slider issues. Have 2012 Jeep liberty, sky slider works fine, noise however is a different issue. I thought of weather stripping and/or a wind deflector to lessen the noise. Any suggestions, please, Bob

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Liberty yourself? What have you tried so far?

Research only. Weather stripping and/or air deflector might at least lesson the noise. And yes, it will be a me fix it job, lol.

Mechanic's Assistant: How long has this been an issue? How many miles are on the car?

Just bought it for my g-daughter, noticed the noise immediately. Has @ 93,000 mi.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No, no...just would like to quiet the inside while driving over 50. Thanks

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! I apologize for the extended wait time you experienced, I've only just come online now and would like to assist you with your question.

There may or may not be much you'll be able to do. If there is actually a failure then replacing the failed part will repair it, but if you're concerned with characteristic noise there won't be much you're able to do.

Are you hearing a whistling or hearing air actually coming into the vehicle?

Or is it road noise or air hitting the canvas that you're concerned with?

It’s air noises as you reach speeds of 50 mph.
Jeep Mechanic: sprinkles08, ASE Certified Technician replied 6 months ago

But is it air entering the vehicle or are you concerned with normal road and canvas noise?

Ask Your Own Jeep Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
Seems like a common problem with the Jeep’s sky slider. Just trying to reduce itt. I googled it, seems like weather stripping could help. Likewise with wind deflector. Just wanted your opinion.
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
Don’t think it completely seals shut?
Jeep Mechanic: sprinkles08, ASE Certified Technician replied 6 months ago

If it isn't sealing then you need to visibly inspect the components and determine what is going to need to be replaced. The roof assembly may need to be replaced if damaged, which is the most common repair.

The roof is in great shape, it opens and closes just fine. However when driving at 50mph you can her the wind noise. I don’t need to replace anything. I need a way of quieting the noise.
Jeep Mechanic: sprinkles08, ASE Certified Technician replied 6 months ago

Your last post said it doesn't completely shut. That was not true?

Ask Your Own Jeep Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
It shuts but apparently some space still unsealed. How about a 1/4” of weatherstripping? How about a wind deflector?
Jeep Mechanic: sprinkles08, ASE Certified Technician replied 6 months ago

You can try a wind deflector if you'd rather do so than repairing the actual problem. That would cut down some wind noise but would create it's own noise to some degree, and it wouldn't prevent water from coming in. This roof does not have a drain system like a sunroof does.

Sorry don’t think it’s an actual problem but more of a manufacturing defect that never got recalled. Lawsuits have failed. To try and fix for 1000s of dollars is not my choice. And there is no leakage with 93000 miles. Can I cut down on noise or noqt?
Jeep Mechanic: sprinkles08, ASE Certified Technician replied 6 months ago

Recalls are for safety and emissions issues.

If there is air coming in because the roof isn't closing then there is a failure that needs to be repaired. If you don't wish to repair the problem and are ok with water coming in then you can try an air deflector.
