  • WORK TIME, I am here 7 days a week but not all hours of the day, do not worry I will respond.

  • PHONE CALLS are automatically offered by the website. I or another may take the call if you request one.
  • UPLOADED LINKS, if I upload dropbox links, without the phone app use the box on the top right for direct download.

Just so I understand you do not want to fix it correctly. You want to alter it and you need a key on power source, correct?

Using the link to an image below. The orange wire to each of those components from fuse 18 is only powered when the key is in the run position. Would one of those work for you?

Now that I have posted a partial or complete answer, you will see you can rate me. The deposit you have already paid is not transferred to me until you rate me. I would like to receive nothing less than 5-star excellent ratings. So if we are not there yet, please reply and let me help more. If you're not pleased, let me know because rating bad does not result in a refund, there are better options. Rating now will not close this post nor prevent replying. Thanks Chris

Okay ,now I want to understand how to wire up the regulator to a close dist . center. without exposing the fuses to air or water / weather elements .
Jeep Mechanic: Chris (aka-Moose), Technician replied 2 months ago

Can you not heat shrink the wire splices to prevent water intrusion like OEM wiring is done?

Ask Your Own Jeep Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
where would locate the 120 amp alternator fuse in the dist . Center and the fusible link wire.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Last question is what size terminal goes on the POS. Battery tab on the alternator
Jeep Mechanic: Chris (aka-Moose), Technician replied 2 months ago

There is not a 120 amp fuse in the fuse box. There is an inline fuse link though on the red/black wire between the alternator and battery positive wire connection to the fuse box. If a wire diagram is needed, let me know.

You would need to measure it, it should be able to support 150 amps 8-10 gauge should be sufficient.

I would need a diagram
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Alternator is 200 amps the 150 diode burned out
Jeep Mechanic: Chris (aka-Moose), Technician replied 2 months ago

For a 200 amp you will want 6-8 gauge wire.

Here is the diagram https://www.dropbox.com/s/u39ofas30cnbygr/98jeep.pdf?dl=0

Do you know someone with a computer whereas you can log in to the website there then open the file?

Ask Your Own Jeep Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
No, not off hand
Jeep Mechanic: Chris (aka-Moose), Technician replied 2 months ago

Then we will have to answer remaining concerns without diagrams. What questions do you have left?

Ask Your Own Jeep Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
How did do the first diagram and what was the fix you were referring to , in your initial statement.
Jeep Mechanic: Chris (aka-Moose), Technician replied 2 months ago

You should be able to diagnose and fix it without altering the way to works and the wiring. We can do that if you have not changed anything so far from the OEM way it should work.

What would I have to do.

Test for battery voltage to the coil while cranking.

Using a test light, check for a trigger to the coil negative while cranking.
