2006 Jeep Commander, 3.7 L, 6 Cy. Base Model: When I turn on…

Customer Question
2006 Jeep Commander, 3.7...

2006 Jeep Commander, 3.7 L, 6 Cy. Base Model: When I turn on the heater blower switch to high (on heat), after about 10 seconds, the blower stops, all dash indicator lights blink, go out. I don't loose power (car still operates). After turning off the blower switch, everything resets. Obviously not the switch, and not the resistor as blower works on all speeds. Think that the blower motor is getting old, tired, drawing too much current on the high setting, shutting down the system, causing havoc with electrical indicator lights. Your opinion?

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuses? The dashboard bulbs?

Yes, have checked fuses. Really not applicable as everything works fine, light work, heater works on low setting, etc.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Commander yourself? What have you tried so far?

Only research. Research tells me that this is common condition with the blower system due to current overload, however, have not been able to read a direct connection to the problem online. I can easily duplicate the problem after the car warms up and turn up the blower switch speed to high on heat. Have duplicated 4 times with all symptoms as described above.\
