I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 - the oil light comes on when RPM's drop to idle.
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: the one that looks like an oil can at top right next to RPM
JA: Are you fixing your Grand Cherokee yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: checked oil it is full local shop shop said oil ok
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: engine not overheating also the generic engine light is on the one in the iddle between speedometer and RPM

The oil pressure needs to be checked with a gauge. You also need to check for a sludge build up in the crank case. This will obstruct oil flow.

If there is no obstruction, the oil pump can be weak or bad.
