The alarm just came on by itself and would not turn off by

the alarm just came on by itself and would not turn off by remote however the jeep would still start in alarm mode. I had to disconnect the battery.
JA: Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver's side door using the key itself?
Customer: yes I did it would not turn off ill reconnect the battery later
JA: What is the model/year of your Jeep?
Customer: 2005 jeep grand Cherokee 3.7
JA: Are you fixing your Grand Cherokee yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: it just happened first time don't know if its a problem yet
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: yes it has trouble starting sometimes seems like the remote key doesn't read

It sounds like you have a bad key.. Do you have a spare to try? The alarm can only be disarmed by pressing the unlock on the remote or by starting it with a valid SKIM key.
