What is the standard tail pipe diameter on a 2003 Wrangler

Customer Question

What is the standard tail pipe diameter on a 2003 Wrangler SE (4 cyl) for the pipe with the catalytic converters between the exhaust manifold and connector for the muffler?
JA: How many miles are on the car? How has your MPG been lately?
Customer: 148,000 miles / 18 mpg or so
JA: Are you fixing your Wrangler yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I'm working on now. The current pipe is 2 1/2" diameter and I'm being told the standard is 2 1/4". Everything says the converters fit a 2 1/2" pipe & not 2 1/4".
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Nope - Thanks.

I am seeing 2.5" as standard also, are they trying to blame exhaust size on some other problem? Thanks.
