2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee check engine light on. Does not

Customer Question

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee check engine light on. Does not shift into gear. Mechanics say it is a electrical problem. Replaced computer chip. Still not working. Wires are bad in the boot on the door. Can that cause anything with check engine light
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Stays on
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Well last night when I put my lights on and the lights on my dash came on my interiors all came on and would not go off. My son today looked and some of the wires in the door jam under the boot were broke
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: My car only has 100000 miles and I don't want to get a new one si I wondered if the door wires had anything to do with the check engine light
