2011 jeep patriot stuck in park / have tried man release lever didn't work either

Are you on a hill? it could be that the transmission is binding on the park pawl, holding tension on it. When you step on the brake to activate the park release, do you hear a "click" in the area of the shifter? Have someone check to make sure your brake lights come on with the brake pedal, if not the signal is not getting sent to the release solenoid.
