I have an 04 jeep grand cherokee overland. When I turn off

Customer Question

I have an 04 jeep grand cherokee overland. When I turn off the engine & remove the key. the instrument panel warning lights come on & run the battery down if I don't disconnect it.
JA: Have you checked all the fuses? Do you have a wiring diagram?
Customer: NO on the fuses & wiring diaggram.
JA: What is the model/year of your Jeep?
Customer: 2004 grand cherokee overland.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes. I disconnected all of the switches on the column & hooked thee battery back up & they still came on.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Yes, thesun roof got stuck open in a storm & got the controls on the top wet.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Jeep Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Hello. My name is ***** ***** I will be helping you today.

So you unhooked the ignition switch and it still did it?

Do the gauges come on or just the warning lights?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I think just the warning lights. Except when I first turn off the engine, the gauges take a while to go down.

And it did it with the ignition switch unplugged?

Have you checked it for codes? I would expect it to be throwing a communication code.

Without any way to do any testing my guess is you got a bad cluster or ground or power to it. Do you have a meter?
