When I first start my car in AM-there is a 'clicking' or tapping sound at the top of the engine (straight 6 cylinder)-as engine warms up this sound goes away-what is it??

good afternoon my name is ***** ***** I will assist most cases, it is a sticking valve lifter. the oil may be dirty and varnished inside the lifter. I would start by changing the oil/filter and using sea foam to flush the oil system. that will help break down the varnish in the lifters. then change the oil filter again and see if it still happens. worse case scenario is that the lifters would have to be replaced.
