Customer Question

2001 Grand Limited 4.7 v8 4 starters in 3 years? when it happens it will always start with a jump. New battery 1 week ago, same problem. Everything else works when this happens, no clicking at starter just dead. Started yesterday then failed, started later with jump{new battery remember] then failed again. Hi Welcome to Just Answer!

How many miles are on your Jeep?

Are you using factory or aftermarket starters?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
170,000 miles rebuilt starters, probably the issue?
Expert:  b5demon replied 1 year ago.

the rebuilt starters could be your issue but those engine did have a lot of starter issues because of the location and the heat. You Can try a new starter but i would also recommend check the battery cables and their connections at both the battery and the block for the ground cable and the starter for the positive cable make sure the connections are clean. Also make sure the heat shield is there for the starter
