Customer Question

Im possibly buying a 1996 jeep cherokee xj, and the transmission is going out. I happen to have a transmission laying around, however its out of a 98 or 99 xj. I know the transmission will bolt up but I'm just not sure if the two or three electrical plugs will work? not sure if they differ from those years? I've been told that the will plug and play but I'm not sure, and I don't want to purchase the jeep until Im for sure.

Hello and welcome to just answer. There were 2 possible transmissions back then The most popular was the AW4, but some came with 42RLE transmissions. Are both transmissions an AW4?
