1973 cj5. Replaced coil and porcelain resistor, attached to positive side of coil and cannot get a spark from the new coil to distributor lead held near ground
Hi, my name is XXXXX XXXXX you have 12 volts to the positive side of the coil, and then when you crank it the negative side the light is off, then the points are not opening and closing properly, the negative side should flash the light when cranking, have you checked the points yet?>
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
No have not checked points nor replaced condenser
the points ground the coil to fire, if the test light does not flash on the negative side when cranking, then it is in the points and condensor, replace them and make sure they are properly gapped,Tim
