Jeep Liberty: A couple weeks ago I noticed my 2003 Jeep Liberty

This answer was rated:

A couple weeks ago I noticed my 2003 Jeep Liberty had started making a whining noise whenever the engine is on. It's almost inaudible in idle and gets louder as I accelerate. If I had to guess I'd say it comes from the right side of the front of the car. I'm hoping it's something cheap and easy to fix as I'm planning to sell the car soon . . .

Hello I'm Paul and I will help you with an Answer to your Question

a couple of common causes for whining noises are the Power steering pump and the Transmission.

it sounds like yours is most likely the power steering pump

a mechanic can find the sorce in a couple of minutes using a mechanic stethascope.

if it is in fact the power steering pump you could try flushing it and filling with ATF+4

of the noise does not go away you may be replacing the pump
