Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

There are hundreds of things that will turn the light on. Let's see what fault codes are stored.

Cycle the key from off to on three times ending with it on and watch the digital odometer display. Don't crank the starter, just off to on. The codes start with a P and have four numbers, there may be more than one stored. Write down any that you see and post them here.

p 0301

P0301 is a misfire in the number one cylinder. This could be many things including the spark plug, coil, fuel injector, carbon buildup in the cylinder, valve sealing issues, fuel quality, etc. The most common thing to cause this would a bad spark plug and that would be the first thing I recommend addressing. If it's been near 30,000 miles since the plugs were last replaced or the correct NGK plugs aren't in it then I would recommend replacing the spark plugs and that will most likely take care of the problem.
