2006 Liberty: dealership..serviced..new brakes, new rotars, new tires…

Customer Question

My 2006 Liberty has a sway when hitting high speeds. I noticed right after the dealership serviced my car and gave me new brakes, new rotars, new tires. I didn't notice the swaying before this service. Is there something with those repairs that could cause this swaying - (the swaying feels like when you drive behind a semi).

If they installed a different brand or type of tire than your Liberty had before, or if they did not inflate the tires correctly, that would explain the sway you are experiencing. You should check the air pressure immediately, a low tire can cause a blow out. There is a tire placard on the inside of the drivers door jamb that will have the correct pressure settings.

The tires were of the appropriate pressure setting. I even had them checked by a professional. Still not sure why the car is swaying. I have had the rotars checked and the sway bar checked and was told by the dealer that those were in good condition.
Jeep Mechanic: CDJMasterTech, Jeep MasterTech replied 8 years ago
Yes, but were the tires the same brand, size and type as the original equipment tires? If not you may feeling the different characteristics of the new tires.

Yes, tires are exactly the same.

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is Denny; now let me see if I can help you with your Jeep question.

I agree with CDJMasterTech; I would check the air pressure in the tires, as they may be too high or too low; either way it could cause this condition.
