My info states that there is a chance that this model year has an air bag system. Does yours have this option?
Customer: replied 9 years ago.
no it does not

Ok, then this is a gm style setup. Here are the instructions that I have.

Without Air Bag

See Figures 1 and 2

  1. The ignition switch is located on the lower part of the steering column.
  2. Place the ignition in the LOCK position.

  3. Click image to see an enlarged view
    Fig. 1: Ignition/dimmer switch assembly
  4. Remove any components necessary to access the switch. (This would likely be the trim panel undeneath the steering column and possibly the dimmer switch)

  5. Remove the two switch mounting screws.

  6. Disconnect the switch from the rod.

  7. Disconnect the wiring and remove the switch.

  8. To install:
  9. Click image to see an enlarged view
Fig. 2: Ignition switch rod positioning
  10. On non-tilt columns:

    1. Move the ignition switch slider to the OFF unlocked position (move the slider all the way down, then back two clicks). The remote rod hole in the ignition switch slider should now be centered.

    2. Insert the remote rod in the ignition switch slider hole and install the ignition switch on the steering column. Tighten the attaching screws to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).

  11. On tilt columns:

    1. Insert the ignition key in the lock cylinder and turn the cylinder to the OFF unlocked position.

    2. Move the ignition switch downward to eliminate any slack and tighten the attaching screws to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).

  12. Install any components removed for switch access.

  13. Feel free to contact me with any problems or questions! Good luck!
