Customer
it just now for the 1st time went over the halfway point on the temp gauge to 3/4 but it dropped back to half as soon as I slowed from 50 to 30 . but I also only drove about 8 mi.
Customer
scratch that 4 mi. not 8 & it's also only about 7degrees outside here

Howdy from Tennessee, I'm Chris aka Moose. Glad you've come here and are willing to let us at Just Answer assist you. May I get the first name of the person I am helping?

Please sit tight as I work on your question, it should be no more than 15-minutes.

Can you get this noise to occur while just running in park or must you drive?

Best you can tell, where does the noise seem to be originating from?

Customer
my name is ***** ***** I am also a TN native but live in INdy now
Customer
the noise only happens between 30-50 & goes away as soon as I brake.
Customer
sounds like it's coming from the front end like right out the hood emblem

Thanks for those details, Nate, sorry you are experiencing this frustrating noise issue.

Will it occur while rolling neutral at that speed range?

Does the noise seem to be related to wheel speed, wind speed, or engine RPM?

Customer
well I've only noticed at the specific speed but I've not been looking at RPM cuz I've been too busy watching the temp gauge
Customer
not sure about the neutral thing but when I stopped at my brother's house the the fan stayed on after the car was off , which it did last night too that's when I noticed the reservoir had emptied again for the 1st time since he changed the water pump
Customer
last night I refilled the reservoir & burped the system for about 45 mins temp gauge NVR went over half

Can you go back out for a drive now or later and try it in neutral, also try swerving to see if either affects the noise? I am trying to determine if the noise is from a wheel, or from something under the hood.

Customer
well being that the fan stayed on after the car was off I'm betting the reservoir is empty again & as all the auto places are closed & I used the last of my pink euro coolant last night I don't wanna drive it again until it can be refilled.
Customer
I can go out & check the reservoir for sure & if I'm wrong drive it but if it's empty I wanna wait to refill it .

It seems your attention is more focused on the coolant concern than the noise concern, is that correct?

Customer
the coolant is a bigger concern the whistle was just an extra & I didn't know if it could have been a symptom.
Customer
cuz the whistle just started in the past couple days & with it came the coolant messing up again which is the system I've been having troubles with.

After all the refills and burps, are you still losing coolant that is not making its way onto the ground?

Customer
I just know I'm not tryna ever let the engine over heat so it jumping past the half way mark during a 4 mi trip in under 10 degree weather has me nervous
Customer
well it just lost coolant for the 1st time since my bro changed the water pump last night & I refilled & burped & only driven twice since one of which was the trip to his house 2 nite
Customer
but no I didn't see any leakage & have been smelling what seems to be burning coolant even tho I ran the car thru an undercarriage wash twice after the pump gasket blew out
Customer
but last night the fan had stayed on after the car was turned off which is what it did when the reservoir 1st broke that's why I checked the reservoir and noticed it was a hair under min.
Customer
that & cuz I had read in the Jaguar forums that those reservoirs break fairly often so I was making sure the new one hadn't crapped out already but I saw no evidence of coolant leak anywhere near the reservoir nor in the front like when the water pump gasket blew & the snow had no pink on it when I backed out either
Customer
I'm going out now to check the reservoir and the oil again.

Nate, do you have or know someone that does, a cooling system pressure tester so we can see if there are any leaks?

Customer
possibly if not I can just put it in the shop in the am...

If you can get a pressure tester on it, if there is an external leak, that will for sure find it.

Customer
confirmed empty reservoir and pink snow & clearly leaking not sure from where exactly but also confirm no milky oil
Customer
the pink snow is front passenger best idea was either the radiator or the hose that connects to it right there.
Customer
like right by the passenger headlight

Snow does help for seeing leaks, not the outcome you wanted though.

It has to be a radiator leak or a hose going to the radiator based on where you are seeing the stain on the ground.

Customer
back to the whistle is their any possible connection with the 2 or is the whistle only related to other things , I saw far to many possibilities when I googled it that's y I asked for your help in the 1st place

There is a possible connection between the noise and leak/overheating concerns. I would suggest addressing the easier-to-fix issues and the confirmed visually faulty ones before going after the noise.

Customer
ok just checking to make sure that they could be connected , I'm just going to have it towed to the shop when the shop opens Monday morning now no sense in guessing further , thank u very much for your time my good sir!

Glad to help. If you need to respond to this concern later, please do so. Thanks for letting us help you. In the future, if help with new concerns is needed and you would like me to help.
