How can I check the transmission fluid level? How can I add transmission fluid? Both procedures are done from under the vehicle at the drain and fill plugs. Here is the procedure https://www.dropbox.com/s/f0gtzwl0vdau7w4/XKR%20fluid.pdf?dl=0

How much fluid does the system hold? The 6HP26 holds a total of10 quarts if the converter, cooler, and internal transmission are dry. When doing a fluid service you are only exchanging about 5 qts.

Hello Chris Jaguar mechanic....reference 2004 Jaguar XKR......trying to determine source of a leak thinking first fluid pan/connector sleeve. Question: generally speaking what color is transmission fluid in this vehicle? Take a look at the attached photo. Leak is evidenced around fluid pan. Thx

New transmission oil will be ruby red. If the fluid is very old or contaminated with friction material or burnt from overheating. The fluid will be a brownish color.
