VerifiedDid he say it was the throttle? Does the engine rev up then bang into gear when accelerating from a stop or when selecting drive?
Thanks for the photo. Yes that is the electronic throttle. This can cause fault warnings as well as going into limp mode which causes a fixed fourth gear. There is a pedal position sensor and throttle sensor. Neither one is recommended as the throttle should be replaced as a calibrated assembly. You can wipe down the throttle bore and blade.
