02 jaguar x type...

02 jaguar x type. recently replaced pcv hose (had a crack) and the intake manifold 0-ring gaskets. Drove great for a few months. check engine light came on and it was code 174, said possible bad 02 sensor. I did not replace yet, but now suddenly today, my car is sputtering hard, smells bad and I'm getting these codes...p0301,p0174,p1313,p1316,p1111

Mechanic's Assistant: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?

Stays on....but will blink when I accelerate and then go solid again when I slow down

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F-Type yourself? What have you tried so far?

If possible, but may have to take it to a mechanic

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Can a bad 02 sensor cause the codes I'm seeing? or how likely is it the Cat has gone bad?

Ask Your Own Jaguar Question

How old are the spark plugs?

Ask Your Own Jaguar Question

have not been changed ever to my knowledge

I will recommend to start by checking Cylinder#1 misfire which is usually caused by a worn spark plug or a faulty ignition coil. Cylinder #1 misfire can also sometimes trigger p1313 and p1316. P0174 is a code for system too lean bank#2 which is usually caused by a vacuum leak.

ok, thank you. I will begin there. before experiencing these latest codes, I had a single code recommending to replace 02 sensor 1. if I replace this, could this also cause the codes I'm seeing? would it cause my car to sputter and smell?

A faulty oxygen sensor will not make your engine sputter. P0174 is not just for a faulty oxygen sensor. It can also be caused by an intake leak which can cause the engine to sputter.

You're welcome and good luck with your vehicle, And please don’t forget to rate my performance in the upper left corner otherwise i don’t get compensated. Thank you and have a blessed day.
