Persistent "Reduced Performance Mode" on...
Persistent "Reduced Performance Mode" on my 2003 STR, ran very rough at idle. Replaced coil packs, now runs smooth but won't come out of limp mode. Knock Sensor code doesn't go away. Can a faulty knock sensor cause limp mode? Can too low of transmission fluid also cause RP mode?
JA: When was the last time your transmission fluid was checked? Changed?
Customer: New transmission fluid put in when I replaced cracked radiator. 10 miles ago.
JA: What is the model of your '03 Jaguar?
Customer: STR. S-type R
JA: Are you fixing your S-Type yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, along with the Jag dealer. Dealer replaced coil packs for 2k (!!). Want's 4.5k to replace knock sensor.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not that I can think of

P0328 Sensor 1
Ok thanks.Yes a bad knock sensor will cause t ghe restricted performance warning and that code usually indicates the sensor is faulty.The reason the repair is costly is due to the fact that the supercharger must be removed so there are some other seals and parts that should be replaced. Figure about 8 hours labor. The estimate of 4500 does seem slightly high.

Thanks, ***** ***** either an ill fitting expansion tank cap or a transmission a bit low on fluid (slipping, shifts hard) also cause RP mode? Neither issue is throwing codes.
