Customer Question
I have an 04...

I have an 04 x type 3.0 that is putting out excessive misfires on all of bank 1. the car runs terribly with no power and the check engine light is blinking. I have changed out the spark plugs and I have swapped the coils from bank 1 to bank 2 plugs to see if the problem swaps, and I have done the same with fuel injectors, still same problem. I was thinking about changing the o2 sensors but I don't want to keep guessing.

Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?

Yes, it is consistent

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model of your '04 Jaguar?

X-Type 3.0

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your X-Type yourself? What have you tried so far?

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If it's missing on one bank only then an upstream oxygen sensor on that side is very possible, but it could be a cam timing issue, an exhaust restriction, possibly a localized vacuum leak causing those cylinders to run lean.

Try unplugging the upstream oxygen sensor on that bank, disconnect the battery to clear the adaptives and see how it runs with the sensor unplugged. If it runs ok with the signal ignored then replace the sensor.

I hope that helps! My goal is your satisfaction today. If you feel I've been professional and helpful, your 5-star rating at this time is most appreciated. However, if you still need my help you can reply back here and I'll respond as soon as possible! Thank you!
