Overall the XK is a solid and reliable vehicle. It seems though each year range does have some high failures on different components. Just as an example the 97-02 have some internal transmission and engine issues effecting high mileage vehicles. The 2003 has some electrical and transmission issues. The 04-06 have far less problems. All year ranges seem to have some electronic throttle problems. I had a 2003 where the only problem I had was with the transmission. If the vehicle is a convertible the hydraulic part of the system sometimes have issues. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
