Customer Question

All of a sudden the other day my 1994 XJ6 VDP would not start. No lights on the dash, but windows, interior lights, radio, etc. still work. Limped it home with key on and jump positive block to starter, but no instrument functionality at all - no turn signals, etc.. Thought it might be BCM so changed that and the battery. Now alarm is going off and can't get that to stop. Pulled fuse for security ECU. That's where I am.

Looking to stop the alarm from going off when I plug in the fuse, and address the "no start / no instruments" issue. Is this issue always a bad BCM?

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question had not received a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.

It is very possible the BCM is at fault here.In some cases it may be an issue with the electronic ignition switch as well as it can fail to send the correct signals on all circuits and cause this fault. If this has not been checked into/tested at all this needs done to see if this is an issue here.

If more help is needed, use the reply tab to continue our conversation.
