Customer Question

i have a 2000 jaquar type S, I have cut a new key, it turns the ignition great, but I cannot get the key out of the ignition. How do I get the ignition cylinder out of the housing and can I take the cylinder apart to remove the key?

Hello and thanks for using

You will need to remove the complete cylinder and jousting from behind the dash then it can be separated. Also make sure the vehicle is fully in park so that the key turns all the way to the off position. The assembly is held on by two small 7/32 screws. Remove the lower dash cover and with a good bright light you should see the screws.
