Jaguar XJ8: We have a 2012 XJ8 in the shop that the suspension

Customer Question

We have a 2012 XJ8 in the shop that the suspension collapsed on overnight. One injector is wide open flooding the exhaust so we do not want to run it but need to move the car. Will the suspension only come up with the engine running? Also is running the engine the only way to get the shift knob to come up. The tow truck guy had issues with that getting it out of park. He had to crank it with fuel pouring out the exhaust. Have you heard of issues with failed injectors? The new version is $992! Old one $340. Crazy stuff. We don't see many of theses cars yet as the dealers have them captive.

Yes I do see some issues with the injectors. The suspension can raise without the engine running but if it is all the way down the engine will need to be running. As far as getting it out of park there is an emergency park release in the console. Remove the small pen try and then turn the center of the release with a flat blade and pull the red strap. Be careful when doing this because when the red strap is pulled it will be in neutral.
