Hello and welcome to
What year is your XJ? SO the passenger rear window will go up but falls back down? If you try to move the glass up and down is there movement
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It does not fall down. It is like someone is pushing the up down control and it usually stops about a third of the way up . It does this while driving and some times you can send it up but then later it will go down. If the control on the driver and pasenger rear door do not put it up you can usually turn the car off and then turn the ign switch to the almost start position and then the controls will work.

Ok it is very possible we have a sticking switch. Could be the master switch or the rear door switch. what I would try is disconnecting the rear door switch and see if the problem is no longer present. IN order to disconnect the switch we will need to remove the panel.
Here's the procedure to remove the door panel. First remove the small screw cover from inside the inner door handle. Remove the screw then pop off the back of the wood veener and slide it back to disengage it from the door handle housing. Remove the screws under the armrest then the panel will come off by poping it off and lifting up. Use these links.

I see no screws or a way to get the panel off and no screws under the arm rest. Does prying on the veneer break it?

There should be screws. Please use the links as a ref
