2002 jaguar s type when...
2002 jaguar s type when driving if I don't come to complete stop when turning, once I turn the car sputters and gearbox fault light comes on. Sometimes check engine light comes on. Only code I see now is p0156. I've had both cat converters changed, transmission flush twice in past few months. Have no idea

Hello and welcome to justanswer.com

Does the gearbox fault warning stay on or does it go off by itself? Other than this problem how does the transmission shift?

Customer reply replied 8 years ago

The vehicle becomes restricted so I have pull over and turn car off and back on and the fault clears and drives fine again. Seems to run a little rough at times and seems to be idled up when I switch gears at times especially in reverse. Took to aamco and they said it wasn't transmission but cat converters so I had them changed. Transmission fluid so bad so I had flushed twice. No one seems to know.

Jaguar Mechanic: Richard, Jaguar Technician replied 8 years ago
Did you ever try to scan the vehicle while the faults were displayed and the vehicle was in limp.

Customer reply replied 8 years ago

No I haven't tried that yet. The engine light is still on right now with code p0156 but itll disappear in another day or two. I'll try to intentionally draw the gear fault on my way home and see if I pull any different codes. 02 sensor was just changed a few months ago.

Jaguar Mechanic: Richard, Jaguar Technician replied 8 years ago
Ok I think we need to try that. It definitely sounds like an electrical fault. I have seen issues with shorted ignition coils causing this ad you also stated the engine had a missfire. The oxygen sensor code will not cause a gearbox fault or a limp condition. Let me know.

Ok I tried that and it did allow me to read another code. Is was code p0745 pressure control solenoid.

Jaguar Mechanic: Richard, Jaguar Technician replied 8 years ago
Ok that makes sense. This is most likely a faulty solenoid pack but I have also seen instances where there was loose wiring and corrosion in the electrical connector on the transmission. I think both these should be checked first.
