a friend changed plugs on xj8 it now runs lumpy. is it poss to have connected the coils wrong?

Hello I'm Neal. In your case it is going to be that the wrong plugs were used, a plug was damaged duning installation, or a coil was damaged.

Are you getting a check engine light?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

I would start by attaching a scanner and trying to determine which cylinder is misfiring. If there is no scanner available, then install new plugs and make sure they are the correct ones and see if it resolves. While installing those plugs, visually inspect the coils for damage. Let me know what you find and I will continue to assist as needed.
