Customer: Jag now has 63,000 miles. Yesterday after just getting on the freeway, I turned the cruise control on and pressed set at about 70 MPH. For whatever reason, it did not set and while redoing, the car went into limp mode with a powertrain red light on. No check engine light. I pulled over, turned off the engine, waited a minute, and restarted. Powertrain red light was off and no limp mode. I drove the car for 300 miles to get home with no problem. I checked codes this morning and the only code is P1111, which I understand is a normal code. Any idea what caused? Is this something I have to worry about?

Usually this is caused by a fault with the electronic throttle. In most cases a fault code is logged. Let's drive to see if the problem occurs when not using the cruise control. Also let's try cleaning the throttle bore and blade.

Is it okay to use carb cleaner on the trottle bore and blade? I can't remember where, but I do remember reading something about there was a special coating on the trottle bore and not to use a cleaner ????
I recommend a throttle cleaner like one from 3M. Spray it on a lint free rag and wipe clean the bore and blade. Do not spray directly in the throttle.
