For sure. Its so much more expensive to rebuild it plus worry about any mistakes. Find a good engine and be sure the chain tensioners are new then run synthetic oil.

Sorry for the delay...
In most cases if you find an engine like the one you need, the tensioners will all ready have been done. The parts are jaguar specific and are not or shouldn't be bought aftermarket. Get a good engine, pull off the front cover and see if the part numbers off the tensioners match the latest part numbers from jag.
