When the gearbox fault light comes on the ECM/TCM has detected an electronic or mechanical fault goes into a limp failsafe mode and stores a code. On your vehicle I see problems with the torque converters as well as programming failures for the TCM which need to be cleared and reset. We will need to see what the fault codes are. A Jag factory scan tool will be needed to do this so you need to visit a Jag specialist. You can also try your local parts store as they will scan the codes for you at no charge or have a generic OBD II tool you can use. Once you have the four digit fault code let me know what it is (P0741 as an example).
