In most cases if it was the anti theft system the engine will not even crank. I am curious as to how the shop came to the conclusion that it is a security problem. Based on your description it sounds like a fuel delivery problem like a failed fuel pump or it can be a problem with the engine timing as sometimes the secondary tensioners will fail causing the chain to jump. Ask the shop what diagnosis has been done and do not authorize any repairs until you get back to me.

Ok that makes sense as we discussed in my first post. As far as the computer needing to be flashed unless they have a Jag factory scan tool this cannot be done. Also I do not see a need in doing this just for a failed pump.
