Ok when the gearbox fault light comes on the PCM has detected an electronic or mechanical fault goes into a limp failsafe mode and stores a code. On your vehicle I see problems with the solenoid packs as well as mechanical failures inside the transmission leading to a rebuild or replacement. We will need to see what the fault codes are. A Jag scan tool will be needed to do this so you need to visit a Jag specialist. You can also try your local parts store like autozone or pepboys as they will scan the codes for you at no charge. Your vehicle is OBD II so most generic scan tools can be used to retrieve the fault codes.
