Now with the car jacked up on that side with the wheel about 2 inches off the ground use a steel bar under the wheel and lever the wheel up and down slightly, you should be able to look at the end of the axle and see if the suspension arm is moving up and down separately to the axle.If so replace the bush
Worn mountings - check the tightness of the engine and gearbox mounts and their condition - this is best done by using a jack to take the weight of the engine off the mounts and seeing if any cracks or splits open up in the rubber
Matt,
I recently (2weeks ago) had the shocks and struts replaced all around. Also had the rear bushings replaced. They couldn't replace the front sway bar bushings because the bolts on the carriage are rusted solid. I was informed they would have to have a body shop drill them out to get the carriage down form the engine. They said the bushings were fine and should not be replaced at this time. The service department told me all of the suspension components are solid. The car has 70K on it and was Certified Select Edition at 47K. I originally thought it could be the "knuckle?" joints for the AWD? in the front. as the tire turns against the friction of the pavement, the steering wheel shudders.
