Customer: I have a 2000 Jaguar S-type, 4.0 V8. It has approximately 62,000 miles on the car. Some of the mechanical history of the car is it went into failsafe mode once, and I had to change the throttle body. There are no codes on the car because the battery died while I was in Europe. Since then I have charged the battery, and it starts relatively easy. Sometimes it wont start right up, but if I try two or three times it starts fine. This issue I am having is that it bogs down really bad, and has no power at all. I took it to a mechanic and he told me that he believed the timing chain skipped a tooth or two, and said that cylinders were misfiring.. If I remember correctly, he said cylinder 1-4. I am pretty mechanically savvy, but this car has thrown me for a loop. I read that some cars go into fail-safe and cut off power to 4 cylinders, which would make sense., but the car doesn't say fail-safe mode this time. I suspected perhaps the TPS sensor because when it is unplugged nothing happens. There is no power when you try to press the gas lightly, but if I push it down harder, it tries to take off okay. I have replaced 4 out of the 8 coils. Please help!
