Where I can purchase a differential for a 1993 Jaguar?

Question

Do you have any idea where I can purchase a differential for a 1993 Jaguar? I am
located in Bergen County, New Jersey (Oradell to be specific). The car is in
great shape but the differential needs to be replaced (and possibly some other
parts) and I don't know where to find such a part. The car was purchased two
years ago by my son, a US Army soldier, who is now stationed in Afghanistan. I
would love to have the car fixed before he returns in 7 months.

search of used parts. As far as a Jag supplier I recommend coventrywest.com,

welshent.com, or jaggraveyard.com as they all specialize in discounted Jag
parts.

Overall the differential is nto that difficult to replace both the rear subframe
needs to be lowered.

As far as the cost it may not be a wise investment unless the rest of the
vehicle is in otherwise good conditon.

There are a bunch of small things that are wrong

one of the power windows is stuck

the rear struts need replacing

the electronic door locks seem to misfire

by that I mean that the key FOB doesn't always open them

but the engine is CLEAN, the interior is in great shape

I'm afraid to replace this with another used car because I think we now know
everything that is wrong with it. A different car will have another host of
problems

at a crossroads to making a decision. I realize this is only $30 to you, and

The car is currently in my local gasoline station where they are trying to find
parts.

Would you be receptive to being retained to give it a professional look-over? Of
course, I would pay you for this inspection.

The window may just be a motor, the rear struts should be replaced while the
diff is being replaced to save on additional labor, the door locks is usually
the control unit but can even be that remote fob. Have the engine and
transmission inspected first as I see issues with fluid leaks which can lead to
engine repair especially a leak from the headgasket.

Customer:

There is smoke from the exhaust when the car sits for a few days and is then
started. The mechanic thinks there is a leak in the headgasket. But, he believes
the engine and transmission are in good shape.

Richard :

A head gasket job is also costly. These cars are great but when it comes to
repairs it gets expensive.

Customer:

How costly do you consider costly? As I said earlier, I am prepared to spend
around $5,000 to get this car fully repaired. I realize you only see what I tell
you, so I'm not holding you to anything truly specific.

Richard :

For both the differential and head gasket repair you would be loking at about
$5500-$6500.00 but that would depend on the diff price.

I see. As I said, I feel really guilty about consuming your time. Is there a way
I can increase your fee by an additional $30 for spending this much time with
me?
