2006 Jaguar X-type 3.0 has annoying squeak in center console/armrest. I can't seem to locate any place to tighten it.

Customer: 2006 Jaguar X-type 3.0 has annoying squeak in center console/armrest. I can't seem to locate any place to tighten it. Can I lubricate it, or tighten it? I am contemplating shimming it if there are no other options and if I can locate a proper place to insert some shimms. The vehicle has 60K miles on it.

Do you hear this squeaking noise if you rest your arm on the console?

Both with my arm on it and without. It squeaks with the armrest retracted and extended although with weight on it the squeaking is reduced. I have checked for screws on the sides or back but haven't found any. I have not yet removed the rubber insert in the large bin to check for mounting screws there.

Squeaking is loudest when armrest is retracted and driver is resting arm on the armrest. If armrest is extended it still squeaks but is reduced with weight on it. There is substantial play in the armrest cover where the hinge is attached.
