Customer: I am trying to replace my low beam headlamp bulb (left side) in a 2004 jaguar x-type 3.0 AWD. I have removed the front bumper and have gotten the headlamps out. The left low beam was out and the right one worked. I purchased two sylvania H1 bulbs to replace both low beam bulbs even though the right side still worked (I do not want to go back in there any time soon). Neither of the new bulbs will work on the left headlamp. Both of the new bulbs will work on the right headlamp. Here's where it gets interesting - the old right side bulb that was still working will work on the left headlamp! What could cause the new bulb to NOT work on the left? I really want new bulbs on both sides due to the complexity of access.

Look closely at the wiring connector to the bulb. The middle is the power and the outside is the ground. Your problem may be a poor contact with the ground on the new bulbs. In some cases we cut off the old connector and splice in new connector ends. One end goes to the back of the bulb and the other end goes to the terminal sticking out of the headlight housing.
