You may have a problem with the engine thermostat causing it to run slightly hot and the fans are trying to cooling it down. I first recommend pressure testing the system to make sure you do not have a small leak. If the engine does not overheat quickly then it is not usually a water pump problem. I do see issues with the pump impellers cracking and this can really only be checked by removing the pump.
